There are quite a few articles coming here on the subject of choosing your camera, whether you are an absolute beginner or an experienced photographer. This is always a personal choice and everyone's priorities differ.
This is an insight into how I went about making this choice after deciding I wanted a new camera for my own use.
We left our photographic studio and offices in Bolton for semi-retirement from professional photography some three years ago.
The studio gear and most of the camera equipment was sold at the time although I did keep a couple of Nikon DSLR cameras and accessories to use for pleasure.
Now I have decided to sacrifice the full frame cameras for a smaller, portable and lighter camera system.
Since, Christmas I have checked out quite a few of the alternatives and looked at many, many reviews.
I was looking for:
- High-quality image
- Access to a good range of super quality lenses
- Full, easily accessible camera controls
- Portable and not too heavy
- I would like two cards for back up as I shoot
- Good weather sealing and robust build quality
- Good video capability
- Movable screen
